The chapter explores the notion of affective resonance as a mode of regarding live musical and other sonic performances that binds together different subjects, and more, in sense-making. Focusing on this interlinked aspect of musical experience releases the perceived effects of sonic artworks from being viewed solely as coming from the intentions and designs of their composer or artist and acknowledges musical performance as a site not only of individual action (by performers) and emotional experience (for listeners), but also a running-together of several processes of embodied social interaction. Resonance and vibration play a role at various levels in forming collective and affective intersubjectivities, incorporating more subjects into the meaningful sphere of live musical and other sonic manifestations.
